Describe the intended use

Tell the provider whether you want short urban journeys with frequent stops or a longer day outing. Two bicycles need not be identical; each should suit its rider, handling needs, and intended route. A shared product photograph cannot establish that.

Visit Copenhagen distinguishes cycle shops, hotel offers, and app-based options. Choose through actual needs. Someone requiring personal adjustment or explanation should not decide solely from the closest app marker.

Read the agreed duration and return process. A day may mean a calendar endpoint, particular hour, or another period. Returning after dinner requires an arrangement that actually permits it.

Do not rush the handover

Ask for explanations of adjustment, gears, brakes, and locking where unfamiliar. Establish with the provider whether the bicycle suits the intended use. For visible defects or unclear operation, seek clarification or another cycle instead of resolving the issue in traffic.

Document the supplied condition factually and report existing damage through the required process. Pictures should identify the actual bicycle and area. A general row of cycles says little about which one you collected.

Ask about breakdown procedure and required parking or security. Having a lock does not explain how the contract expects it to be used. Save contact and bicycle identification while keeping access details private.

Check included accessories against the handover. If a promised basket, light, or other component is missing, clarify before leaving. Do not quietly substitute your assumption about the advertised package for the equipment actually supplied.

Choose a route for a shared pace

Do not select only the greatest possible distance. Traffic, crossings, navigation, and pauses make a hire ride different from a familiar commute of equal length. Both riders need to be comfortable with the section.

Agree a definite pause and a point where the ride can shorten. If one person feels uncertain, a smaller section may suit better than completing the imagined day. Hiring for a long period is not an obligation to keep riding.

Learn local traffic rules and actual cycle routes. A tourist line does not permit riding on footways or through closures. Dismount where required and use regular public routes.

Complete the return

Account for both cycles and borrowed components. Obtain the required completion confirmation. Leaving a bicycle outside a shop is not automatically an accepted return.

For a train afterwards, include the handover process. Return point, luggage, and station can determine the final journey. A suitable ride ends there in time rather than at the last appealing waterfront view.

If a fault occurred, record it through the provider's process instead of assuming leaving the bicycle explains it. This distinguishes completion of the hire from a separate discussion about the equipment.
